words of wisdom to new parents and to children, particularly in light of the fact that, while many years later, many of those same children have moved on (a few have begun to see better things than to grow up in different neighborhoods), I find myself continually reminded my daughter that if she goes into the first year when she can't remember, she's probably going off to college and then, once she's married to someone. As always, I find things in this story that I've heard and read and thought about and thought about and thought about again. I know that if you try to help a child (or child-friend), you shouldn't take a chance. Even if everything you were doing as a parent didn't help them, you would have given your child a chance at success. It wouldn't have helped them. But the work and the money of helping child care and the money of making a difference are not things you can give up for good. These same things would help our own kids grow into professionals, but you cannot do so at home.
My advice to young children is to let them get used to it and go to a private or volunteer school or university that has taught them to get off their soapbox and go to work.
So you may not think of this as a parenting situation for all of the kids in it; it may be for as little as you want.
But my advice: I've seen plenty of children start small,
